ABOUT THE 2014 EVENT
Perimeter Bicycling Association of America, Inc., the producer of El Tour de Tucson, is proud to be a part of the return of Viva Bike Vegas in association with the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC), city of Las Vegas and city of Henderson and LasVegas.com. We welcome Zappos.com as our title sponsor for 2014!
The event is open to cyclists of all ages and abilities with ride distances of 101, 62 and 25 mile events. The route this year will be the perimeter of Las Vegas, NV traveling along Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area (RRCNCA) and the four mountain ranges surrounding Las Vegas. The roads along the route are some of the newest and smoothest in the country and will give all cyclists an interesting and challenging adventure. Our start/finish for the 101 mile event and Fun Ride is just north of the RTC Building at 600 S Grand Central Parkway in downtown Las Vegas. The start lines for the 62- and 25 mile events are along the 101 mile route. All events finish in downtown Las Vegas. Cyclists who seek “platinum” designation for El Tour de Tucson (November) could qualify by registering and riding in the 101 mile event. In El Tour de Tucson platinum line up is for cyclists who can ride the century in under 5 hours (men) or 5:30 (women). Viva Bike Vegas this year benefits Safe Nest, Discovery Children’s Museum, Easter Seals of Nevada, and the League of America Bicyclists. Perimeter Bicycling hopes to raise $25,000 – $50,000 for these nonprofit organizations in 2014. In the next two years, Perimeter Bicycling hopes to have 10-20 different charitable agencies benefiting from this event.
