Welcome Habitat for Humanity Tucson ~ a new beneficiary of the Perimeter Bicycling.com 31st El Tour de Tucson presented by Casino Del Sol Resort. Habitat For Humanity Tucson creates a more compassionate and just world by bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope.
“It’s wonderful for Habitat to partner with El Tour ~ such a milestone event in the Tucson Community,” said Danny Knee, director of development for Habitat For Humanity Tucson. “El Tour provides great exposure for Habitat and gives participants the opportunity to represent our cause as their reason to ride.”
Those registering for Habitat’s Ride For Home can turn their El Tour “miles into money” to build and repair homes for those in need.
Habitat for Humanity Tucson works to create a more compassionate and just community with the aspiration that every person has adequate housing. Habitat brings people together through volunteerism, and philanthropic investment, advocacy and an innovative housing finance model to build homes, communities, and hope. In Tucson and Pima County, Habitat has built over 380 homes and served almost 640 families with housing solutions since 1980.
Habitat believes that a safe and decent home can change everything for a family. Children feel free to bring friends home to play, their grades improve and the opportunity for college becomes a reality. Instead of worrying about housing, families begin to consider college education for their children, employment training for themselves, and have time to volunteer in their neighborhood organizations. Habitat homeowners become taxpaying neighbors who value their homes and their neighborhoods.
