El Tour’s News Conference set for Wednesday, September 26th

El Tour will announce Andy Clarke, the 2012 Dedication Recipient, at the 1:00 p.m. news conference to be held on Wednesday, September 26th at the Casino Del Sol Resort. Clarke, America’s leading bicycle advocate and president of the League of American Bicyclists, will be in attendance at the news conference and will be available for interviews as well. All are welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be served.

In addition, Richard J. DeBernardis, Founder & Executive Director of El Tour, will introduce this year’s key sponsors and will outline major course changes and event updates. DeBernardis will also announce the recipients of this year’s event proceeds. Last year participants raised over $1.8 million for thirty-five different beneficiaries.

The University of Arizona Medical Center 30th El Tour de Tucson presented by Casino Del Sol Resort will be held Saturday, November 17th. El Tour, America’s largest perimeter cycling event, brings in more than 18,000 visitors from across the country and around the world and contributes an estimated $50 – $70 million to the Tucson area economy year-round including $18 – $30 million on ride weekend alone.

Directions to Casino Del Sol Resort located at 5655 West Valenica Road: Take exit I-19 at Valenica and head west six miles. Enter through the hotel and look for the open space opposite Starbucks. Plenty of free parking is available on the property.
