Featured El Tour Beneficiary of the Week: Beads of Courage

Thursday, September 6th, 2012

Beads of Courage is returning for the second consecutive year as an El Tour beneficiary, which means, if you elect, you can raise money and ride for Beads of Courage in the 30th El Tour.

Founded and headquartered in Tucson, Beads of Courage is now an international arts-in-medicine non-profit organization with programs in 160+ hospitals – including Diamond Children’s Medical Center.

Riders on Team BoC will not only help raise funds (each $25 raised supports one child in the program) and awareness for BoC programs at Diamond Children’s – they will also be participating in the Team Beads program. Each rider will give hope, honor and courage, and will carry a bead through El Tour for a child coping with serious illness.

Upon completion, the Team Bead will be given to a child being treated for serious illness locally, along with a note of enCOURAGEment from the team member. This program is also available to riders from other teams. Over 30,000 children coping with serious illness use Beads of Courage to record, tell, and own their stories of COURAGE.
