Tucson #1 on Outside’s Top 10 Best Bike Towns

Tuesday, May 29th, 2012

More good ink about Tucson bicycling. In recent weeks, Tucson was renewed as a Gold-level Bicycling Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists (LAB), and ranked #8 on Bike Score’s top 10 Bikeable Cities. Both LAB and Bike Score emphasize bicycling infrastructure and amenities, such as connecting bike routes to public transit in their rankings.

But from Outside’s perspective, good cycling means more than bike lanes and flat routes for utility cycling and commuting to work. The magazine’s Best Towns ranking tool includes interesting topography on scenic roads, access to sweet singletrack for off-road riders, and great places to gather for a post-ride meal or beverage. Outside then gives a boost to towns that also appear on the League of American Bicyclists (LAB) top spots and Bike Score’s top 10.
