Tour of the Tucson Mountains Volunteers of the Year

Tom & Karen Warfield are long-time Perimeter volunteers. Karen began helping out 12 years ago when she was still working at First Interstate Bank. She and some of the other women from the bank would help out on ride day cutting oranges early in the morning – it was often cold, but it was fun and exciting. Tom has helped out for the last four years, mostly with El Tour de Tucson – his folks are Leila and Totten Warfield – Perimeter’s beloved volunteers of 25 years!

This year, Tom & Karen spent many hours assisting with registration and packet stuffing for Tour of the Tucson Mountains, before the event and on ride day.

Karen continues to volunteer for Perimeter events because she enjoys the people. “It’s great to see some of the the same people year after year. They come from all around the country to Tucson for the weather and the Tour,” she said. “Richard and Beverly have become good friends. We love them. It’s an honor and a challenge and we’ll keep doing it for years to come.”

Each issue of eNews features a Perimeter community member who is contributing to the success of our events. Email Public Affairs to suggest someone you think deserves the recognition – it may be a rider, volunteer, sponsor, or beneficiary.
