Tour of the Tucson Mountains Highest Money Raiser Gives Back Before Moving On

Dr. Jamie Hoffman, 30, has trained the last three years as a pediatric resident at the University of Arizona Medical Center- South Campus Children’s Center Clinic. Before graduating next month and moving to San Diego, Dr. Hoffman wanted to give back to the clinic where she’s worked – the Children’s Center provides medicine, medical equipment, books, toiletries and even bike helmets to youth in need.

The challenge was a natural extension of her interests and passion. “I like medicine and I like to help people, especially kids, so fundraising for the clinic was a good way for me to give back,” Hoffman said. “I sent out a few emails and received enthusiastic support from colleagues, fellow residents and attending physicians,” she said. In all, Hoffman raised $1,150 and was awarded a Conquistador Trophy and the Treasure Chest. Perhaps her greatest challenge was completing her first event – the 27-mile ride – on a rented road bike.
