The Boy Scouts of America – Catalina Council Gears Up for Tour of the Tucson Mountains
Friday, March 9th, 2012
The Catalina Council-BSA is excited to partner with Perimeter Bicycling as a Tour of the Tucson Mountains event beneficiary. Participants riding for Catalina Council-BSA will support the Council, local troops, and boys who want to go to summer camp. All funds raised stay local to support the Council’s two camps, local programming, and sending scouts to camp. The higher levels of contribution are specifically designed so riders can sponsor a scout to camp.
Cycling is also part of scouting. Scouts riding in the Tour of the Tucson Mountains can use the ride to meet requirements for the Cycling or Personal Fitness Merit Badge. Both of these merit badges can be used towards their Eagle Scout award—the premier youth achievement award in the world. All scouts, troops, and leaders are encouraged to participate.
Celebrating 100 years in Pima County, the Boy Scouts of America’s Catalina Council
has served many thousands of scouts and currently supports 10,422 local scouters. The mission of Catalina Council is to prepare young people to make ethical choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. It offers programs and activities that instill values and teach life skills to an ever increasing number of youth by coordinating community resources to build tomorrow’s leaders today.
