 Assist, Encourage, Support.
Helping others reach their goals

Armed with spare tubes, extra bananas, band – aids, and a smile, Bike Patrol has got your back.  From flat tires to encouragement, this trusty group of riders is roadside assistance for Perimeter Bicycling rides. read...more

Patrollers are expected to have basic first aid and mechanical skills.  First aid needs on the route are generally scraped elbows and knees.  Any parent has attended to a few of those.  Flat tires are the most common mechanical issue.

Patrollers promote responsible cycling at all times, encouraging all cyclists to obey traffic laws, and to be environmentally conscious by taking punctured tubes to an appropriate disposal location along with food wrappers and other trash.

Unlike the regular riders of Perimeter events, Bike Patrol is not timed and should have a desire to help others succeed with no thought of riding for a personal best.  If you like to help others, then Bike Patrol needs you.

There are tangible rewards for being part of the Bike Patrol team.  Patrollers may earn their kit – special socks, bag, and a jersey – by consistent participation as Bike Patrol.  There is also an award for outstanding Bike Patrol in each event.

And of course, all Bike Patrol receive a finisher’s medallion.

Certification Classes

Each rider must attend a certification class prior to his/her first patrol, and every two years there after.    The certification classes are designed to educate participants in the procedures of the event and recommends items to bring.

2014 Spring certification classes will be posted by the end of February!

News and events for Bike Patrol

We are able to offer the Bike Patrol jersey for sale to qualified  patrollers.  “Qualified” patroller means you have done a minimum of 4 patrols.  The jerseys are made by Pactimo and are Century (club) cut, which is more relaxed.  They are available on the on-line El Tour store page in a special code – accessed area for $55.  Once you have completed 4 patrols contact the Bike Patrol Director for the code to access the store to buy your jersey.   That means you can order your jersey, plus you can get a jacket or vest if you want one.  (We won’t be offering shorts or gloves, so you’re on your own there).
