Welcome Volunteers!

At Perimeter Bicycling Association of America, we truly appreciate all of those who have helped us in the past and always welcome new volunteers! If you, someone you know, or an organized group are interested in volunteering for any of our events please keep in mind that we have several opportunities available and everyone is welcome to be part of the fun!

Below you will find general event information such as approximate dates, sample shifts and the types of things we need your help with. Each volunteer who contributes 4 or more hours during any event will receive an official event t-shirt as a token of our appreciation! (Sizes may be subject to availability so sign up early)

Prior to the Event:

Packet Stuffing:  We need help to fill packets with information, brochures, coupons and freebies from event sponsors for each rider. This is done about 2 weeks prior to the event and usually scheduled during the week in the evenings either at Perimeter’s office or a facility that will accommodate the amount necessary. For the smaller events we need 6-8 people and for El Tour de Tucson we would need 10-12 people each evening.

EXPO Positions:

Entrance Attendants will greet riders as they enter the Bike Expo and provide initial information they will need inside the event.
Expo Guides will assist riders with issues such as finding their rider numbers, pointing them in the right direction to help traffic flow, and directing them to our sponsor and beneficiary booths.
Packet Pick-up Attendants will provide pre-packaged bags of information from the event sponsors to the riders.
Rider Number Pick-Up Attendants will have the pre-registered riders sign for their timing chips, collect any remaining fees or contributions that may be due, provide riders with envelopes containing their number sets and assist them with any changes they would like to make to their registration record for the event.  A training class may be required for this position.
Chip Scanners will assist the timing chip agents by scanning the rider’s envelope to ensure the chip registration matches our records.
T-Shirt Pick-up Attendants will provide riders with their pre-purchased event shirts.
Merchandise Booth Attendants will assist riders and Expo guests with the purchase of our official clothing and accessories.

Ride Day Positions:

Food Tent Attendants will prepare snack sized items and cups of water for riders.
Kid’s Family Fun Ride Assistants will help riders in this event by helping to organize the start/finish line, assist riders with number positions, set up and run water stations along route, and pass out medallions to participants.
Merchandise Tent Attendants will assist event guests with the purchase of our official clothing and accessories.
Information Booth Attendants will assist event guests with general event inquiries.
Medallion Tent Attendants will provide each rider who crosses the finish line with an event medallion.
Chip Sorters will collect the timing chips that are removed in the chute and sort them according to the timing chip agent’s specifications.
Finish Line Attendants will direct riders into the appropriate area of the chute, mark the rider numbers for their finish category, and/or remove the timing chips from the riders as they come in.

Actual event dates and locations are subject to change from year to year so be sure to visit the event’s main page to confirm actual dates and event sites. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or if you want to sign up!

Thank you for your interest!  We look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,
