(1) General Information
University Medical Center 27th El Tour de Tucson presented by Diamond Ventures proudly announces the Tucson Medical Center El Tour Fun Ride on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at El Tour's Main start/finish line in downtown Tucson.
El Tour Fun Ride is three events:
- An 8 and a 4-mile flat course for young cyclists, families and friends riding road bikes, mountain bikes, BMX, tandems, or anything on two wheels.
8 mile event Starts at 8:30 a.m.
4 mile event Starts at 8:45 a.m.
- A special short course (less than 1/4 -mile) for cyclists on tricycles, bicycles with babies, training wheels, handcycles, wheelchairs, or babies in bicycle trailers.
Starts at 9:00 a.m.
Adults, family and friends are encouraged to ride, run, or skate along and earn the standard event benefits,or they can ride for free with event benefits waived.
All paid registered cyclists receive a medallion and a package of "goodies" from our sponsors. If registered before November 6th, a special t-shirt will be reserved for you. Late registrants may receive a t-shirt if any remain - so register early!
The Fun Ride Awards Ceremony starts at 11:00 a.m. with awards for the Best Decorated Bike and more! The highest money raiser for Tu Nidito will receive the Pizza Hut Fun Ride Treasure Chest filled with gifts including a bicycle, supplies, toys and lots of fun stuff... over $1,000 of gifts!
Following the Kids Fun Ride, the El Tour Downtown Fiesta begins! Don't miss the music, food and fun! Stay all day at El Tour’s Downtown Fiesta to enjoy the excitement as the “big ride” cyclists cross the finish line!
Proceeds from this year's event will benefit Tu Nidito Children and Family Services. Tu Nidito, which is Spanish for "your little nest", is a very special not-for-profit organization. Its mission is to provide individual, family and group support through emotional, educational, social and spiritual services to children and their families as they deal with serious illnesses and death.
Fees, prize certificate information and contest links are presented below in Sections #2, 3 & 4. Ride application is linked in Section #5. (2) Fees
For individual Registration - do one of the following:
Pay $15 fee to Perimeter Bicycling* plus give $10 or more in contributions* for Tu Nidito*
- Receive FREE ENTRY by collecting $50 or more in contributions* for Tu Nidito!
- Receive FREE ENTRY and earn PRIZE CERTIFICATES by collecting $100 or more in contributions* for Tu Nidito
- Earn FREE ENTRY, Prize Certificates and an EL TOUR CONQUISTADOR trophy by collecting $500 or more in contributions* to Tu Nidito.
* Fees paid to Perimeter Bicycling are not tax deductible.Contributions to Tu Nidito are tax deductible as allowed by the IRS. (3) Prize Certificates
These are special gift certificates that can be used at El Tour’s Information & Redemption Centers for anything you want! Certificates are issued based on the amount of money raised for Tu Nidito. Two certificates are issued for each $10 raised upon receiving $100 in contributions. All contributions must be received by Saturday, November 21, 2009.
Collect Contributions for Tu Nidito and receive Prize Certificates. These certificates can be used to buy:
Toys
Merchandise
Bicycles
...and much more
... at any of Perimeter Bicycling's Information and Redemption (I&R) Centers throughout Arizona.
Collect more than $100 for Tu Nidito and you will receive TWO Prize Certificates for every $10 collected.
Each Prize Certificate = $1.
Raise $50- receive 10 certificates
Raise $100-receive 20 certificates
Raise $200-receive 40 certificates
The more you raise, the more you can spend in Prize Certificates!
You will be given your Prize Certificates when you pick up your packet, rider number and t-shirt at El Tour Expo or at the Start line!
(4) Coloring Contest - Win a bike!
Use your imagination to color the El Tour poster. The winner in each of three age groups will receive a bicycle donated by AJO BIKES. One new bicycle will be awarded in each of the following age groups: 3-5, 6-8, 9-12.

A CPSC approved helmet must be worn by all cyclists! If you don’t have one, come to the Sanofi Aventis El Tour Bike Fitness and Health Expo and visit the TMC Booth to get a free helmet!
